The APDS-9960 RGB and Gesture Sensor is a compact breakout board that enables ambient light sensing, RGB color measurement, proximity detection, and touchless gesture recognition. Using simple hand swipes, you can control robots, microcontrollers, and embedded systems with ease.

With built-in UV & IR blocking filters, four directional photodiodes, and an I2C interface, it ensures accurate and reliable detection within a range of 4–8 inches (10–20 cm). Perfect for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other development boards.

Multi-Function Optical Sensing

The APDS9960 combines ambient light, RGB color, proximity, and gesture sensing in one compact optical module. It enables touchless control and accurate environmental detection for interactive electronics projects.

Advanced Gesture Detection

Equipped with four directional photodiodes and a 32-dataset FIFO buffer, the sensor accurately detects swipe gestures in all directions. It operates within a 4–8 inch (10–20 cm) range, making it ideal for touch-free control applications.

High-Sensitivity RGB

Features UV and IR blocking filters, programmable gain, and adjustable integration time for accurate light and color measurement. Its high sensitivity allows reliable operation even behind dark or tinted glass.

I2C Fast-Mode Interface

Supports I2C Fast Mode up to 400 kHz with a default address of 0x39 for reliable communication. Features dedicated pins and interrupt output for easy, low-power integration at 3.3V operation.
